In July 2023 BayChurch Presbyterian was formed from the union of two local Presbyterian Churches. The two churches were St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Mordialloc (commenced 1885) and Pioneers Memorial Presbyterian Church Cheltenham (commenced 1858).

The decision to unite into one new church arose from a desire to more effectively bring the gospel to the local area.

WHO WE ARE

WHERE WE ARE HEADING

Under God, our desire for our church is that we would be:

Growing in love for God

Growing in love for one another

Sharing the hope of Jesus

In recent times, by God’s grace, we have seen the life-giving message of the gospel bring local Christians, and those not yet trusting in Him, into the church community. Under God’s grace, the congregation is slowly building and growing more and more to include people from a wide variety of ages, cultures, and backgrounds. We pray and hope that gospel growth will continue and that God will use this church for His kingdom purposes here in the bay area and beyond.

If you are a follower of Jesus looking to join a church, would you prayerfully consider partnering with us to see more people growing in love for God and one another, and sharing the hope of Jesus, for the glory of God?

OUR BELIEFS

There are three labels that provide a helpful summary of our beliefs:

We are Christian: That is, we believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In this we stand with 2000 years of Christian believers.

We are Evangelical: That is, we believe that the good news of salvation in Jesus is for all people and we long to see the ‘gospel’ transform people throughout the whole world.

We are Reformed: That is, we believe in the sovereignty of God over all things, in his gracious initiative in saving us, and in his ability to finish in us what he has started. Along with the Reformers, we adhere to the principles of scripture alone, grace, alone, faith alone, Christ alone to the glory of God alone.

Meet the Team

  • Paul Huynh

It was during university, that Paul realised it wasn’t his good works that made him a follower of Jesus, but ‘grace’ - God’s free gift of salvation in Jesus, that saved him. God used many people to encourage and challenge Paul to take Jesus’ call to follow him seriously, which led to a change in ambition of life. From seeking to advance his own career, to seeing lives transformed by the gospel.

Paul is married to Zoe and is blessed with four kid’s, Raphie, Cosette, Audrey and Xavier. Paul began his ministry at Mordialloc Presbyterian in January 2019 and together with the elder’s, he helps oversee the spiritual health and direction of the church.

  • Ross McKinnon

Ross grew up thinking that going to church and being well behaved made him a good Christian and a good person. It wasn't until hearing the gospel clearly explained while at uni that Ross learned that he was a total mess. Wonderfully, he soon after learnt that Jesus in His perfect goodness, took up his mess and swapped it for the goodness before God that he so sorely needed. Ross is still quite messy, but is daily thankful for Jesus who takes it up for him in His death and resurrection.

Ross is married to Emily and a father to Robert and Hannah. He is serving as a student minister at BayChurch and studying theology at the RTC (Reformed Theological College) and is very thankful for all that he is learning in both contexts.

  • Bill Buster

Bill is married to Jess. A country boy from NSW, who loves spending time with people reading God’s word.

In 2024-2025, Bill is undertaking a two year Metro traineeship at BayChurch Presbyterian. His main focus will be to champion mission at our church.

  • Jess Buster

Jess is married to Bill. As a missionary kid, Jess has grow up in various church contexts and loves seeing children discipled in Jesus.

She overseers the kid’s ministry at BayChurch.

  • Susan Digby

Susan serves on the Board of Management and also oversees the English Ministry.
